I have seen many changes in those years from when I joined with 42 branches to over 300 and growing into the number one merchant in the United Kingdom.

There have been some hard market conditions in those times, but I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with PTS. I am proud of both of our achievements in that time with more to come I am certain.

I'm 23 years old and I've been working for PTS for 16 months. Started at PTS Boston as Trade Counter Assistant and was then offered Branch Supervisor at PTS Gainsborough where I have now been since November 2008.

I find my job is very interesting, varied and challenging and I can see an excellent career path that I have ahead of me.

My main responsibility is to make sure our branch is successful, but my favourite part is knowing that I have full control over its direction. I began working with BSS Industrial in 1991 as a temp in the warehouse and since then I have progressed from trade counter and sales roles to become Branch Manger. As long as you have the aspiration and enthusiasm to reach the next level, BSS will support your development however it can.

The industrial market is a great one to get into - it's constantly growing and changing, but has the reassurance that heating solutions will always be in demand. Working for an industry leader like BSS puts you on a strong career path and you can learn so much from working with colleagues who are at the top of their field. My goal over the next few years is to take an even bigger branch forward - knowing that my employer will give me the support and help I need to achieve this.

Before joining BSS Industrial, I worked in the building trade and although I liked the construction industry, I didn't really enjoy the mud and extreme weather conditions. I came to BSS on the recommendation of a friend who was a Branch Manager and haven't looked back since.

My role gives me the opportunity to work with a wide variety of contractors and people at all different levels. I also get to visit the sites of major construction projects throughout London. Seeing the building completed gives you a real sense of pride and makes all of your hard work worthwhile.

When I started in a branch warehouse over four years ago, I saw other employees who had been with the company for 40 years or more and knew that was a great testament to how BSS treats its staff. There are so many examples of people who have worked their way to the top and as I work on more projects I know I will have the opportunity to make my mark within BSS.

I came to what is now known as Birchwood Price Tools during the transitional period of the BSS Group acquisition. During this exciting time I've worked with people at all levels, which has given me good exposure to all elements of the business. My easy going personality has served me well in a discipline where strong relationships are vital in order to make things happen.

I really enjoy working within the fast paced marketing department as it is both challenging and rewarding. Everything we produce makes a real difference - whether it is a catalogue, a website or an email campaign. They all make a positive impact on the business.

I am currently working towards achieving my immediate career aspiration of becoming a marketing manager with the BSS Group. There's a particularly strong training and development ethic within the Company, which is important for my future career progression with the Group. In addition, there's also lots of help and encouragement on hand to ensure that I take the best career path to fulfil my ambitions with the Group.
